John Henry Taylor

John Henry Taylor

At the start of the 1893/93 season, the Straw Plaiters had a problem at [full] back.  Having tried a few players in that position Arthur Taylor asked his brother to come down for a game.  In 1891 John Taylor lived near Grimsby with his wife and two daughters and brother in law.  So journeys to Luton for matches would have been long and tiring.  He worked as a joiner.

Made his debut on 21st October 1893 in Luton’s home game with 2nd Scots Guards and played his last game a few weeks later in the famous one nil FA cup win over Old Westminsters.
