I thought it would be useful to include an index.  I will not, however, make it an exhaustive index because some topics occur so frequently – Dallow Lane for instance.  I have therefore included an entry only when it is substantial, interesting or key.

I have placed this index at the start of the book for your convenience.  If I placed it in the traditional position, at the end, it would be off the page in due course and not easily noticeable.

The numbers after the topic stand for the chapter and the page.  For example, “Alliance F.C. 4.10” indicates that there is a mention in chapter four, page 10.  An entry with “x2” after it means there are two entries on that page.
